Studied guitar, guitar theory, voice,
Jon has been my guitar instructor for a year now and I have nothing but positive comments regarding the experience. I'm an adult student who played recreationally in my youth, so I had some experience going in. But that was 30 years ago and I recently decided I missed playing and wanted to take a shot at getting really good at guitar. I chose Jon because he has similar musical tastes, has a strong musical foundation having studied guitar at McNally Smith, and has a ton of practical guitar playing experience as an active musician. Jon quickly evaluated my skill set and prepared a lesson plan that always pushes me to improve. A certain amount of music theory is really necessary to fully appreciate lesson material, and Jon always presents as much or as little as you're willing to absorb. He really understand the fundamentals underlying the material he teaches, and does a great job of presenting lessons in the context of performing a song. On top of that he's very laid back and approachable, which produces a very comfortable and non-intimidating setting for the student. I definitely recommend Jon as a guitar instructor for students of all age and skill levels.+ Read More
