    About John Z.

I'm an actor and coach professionally trained across a range of techniques, with exceptional training in Meisner, Michael Chekhov, Shakespeare, Linklater (voice), Mask, Clown, Lecoq, Movement, Film & TV, Stage Combat, along with extensive knowledge in a number of other techniques. I employ a variety of creative and practical tools suited to my students' needs and goals. I have a deep love and passion for the craft of acting that I bring with my teaching always. I graduated from the Maggie Flanigan Studio, a conservatory specializing in the Meisner technique in NYC, the Michael Chekhov Acting Studio, a conservatory specializing in the Michael Chekhov technique in NYC, as well as the Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University in Washington, DC, where I received my MFA. I believe that teaching, like acting, is an art and a discipline. I am patient, kind, creative, and practical in my approach with my students. I aim for them to leave every session more inspired and confident in their work, all while specifically addressing their goals in each session. I'm confident that in working together we can end every session with you growing as an actor and artist.

I really enjoyed my lesson with John! I am a little rusty since I haven't done Shakespeare in a long time but John made me feel totally confident. He introduced me to a lot of great techniques and worked with me on the text. Highly recommend!
