I am a college student at Westminster Choir College, who has been studying piano for a while now. I am well versed in classical repertoire such as Bach, Brahms, Chopin and more. I think there is a certain up I have personally. I can relate to my student because of my age and I can craft a lesson where I can be more relatable to the student because of my age. I start with the basics and work our way up, starting with easy exercises that challenge the brain and that target certain areas. With those addressed, we then move on to repertoire that also highlights critical points of study that the student needs to address. The Bach Inventions can target fingering issues and use of counterpoint among the hands. I teach block chords and elemental piano skills before moving onto harder concepts like triplets and 3 against 2. I have studied with Ms. Jean Schneider, she is an accompanist with the Michigan Opera Theatre and personal pianist for freelance gigs. I am now currently studying with Dr. Parente of Westminster Choir College. He has written books, played in concert halls around the world and strives to get all his students in flow, to perform at their very best.Outside piano, I am a classical singer, studying as a baritone, who is training with Sharon Sweet of Westminster Choir College. Please feel free to ask about a resume as I would be happy to provide one. My name on Facebook is John Vandevert, feel free to reach out.
