Hello! My name is John and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 1988 and have loved helping my students find comfort in music, accomplish their goals, and most importantly LEARN HOW TO LEARN. My primary goal is to help my students figure out how to teach themselves over time and reach out to me (and others) when they need guidance and directions in the future. … Don’t get me wrong, there’s much to do and lessons can initially go on for quite some time, but, my goal is to ENABLE my students (just as my teachers and mentors did for me) and provide you with the tools to be able to continue your education throughout the rest of your musical life. :) I’ve studied music since I was a young child. I started piano at 5 years old, guitar at 8, my first band when I was 10... I’m 43 years old now). I found a passion for teaching music (and, just teaching period!) in my mid-teenage years and have continued to provide education to students with a passion ever since. In addition to teaching I have also been a performing musician as well as a studio musician. I’ve played in musical theater, toured with bands (country, rock, gospel, and numerous other types!), written jingles, written music beds, written all sorts of other music, recorded with a progressive rock band, and performed for countless audiences in both vocal and instrumental capacities. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to achieve your goals in music!! :) ... it will be fun, challenging and rewarding all at the same time! :)
