About John C.
My teaching style involves listening carefully to my students and then recommending music to them that I think they can play. I also like for students to take an active role in choosing their own music. I like for students to play in the lesson as much as possible. I like to play duets with them because they are fun to play, they sound good and they are effective in teaching students to sight read and play well with other musicians.

John has huge knowledge about music and about jazz in particular,. He's a great player, and he knows how to break down skills and explain them in a way that's accessible. He's tailored lessons to my needs and level. I've made enormous progress since starting to study with him.
