I believe in learning by doing, so from the start I work with students to bring their own ideas to reality. That’s what I love about animation: if you can imagine it, it's possible.
When beginners are given the tools and freedom to create their own ideas, it does two things:
1. It trains them to be a well-rounded artist - They not only understanding how to use the tools, but how to communicate effectively with them.
2. The excitement compounds and drives students to excel and keep learning. This energy is essential to keep beginning artists from getting bored and discouraged.
A bit about me: I have a BFA that gave me a broad understanding of all the components of art and design. I understand not only technique, but theory and ideas behind the historic and social implications of art.
I began experimenting with animation and filmmaking in 2006. After a couple years, I went on to get a BFA in Electronic Imaging at Northern Michigan University. My thesis film, Eat Your Vegetables, won awards at 5 different film festivals across Michigan.
In 2014 I started my own business to create promotional videos and explore innovative ways to use 3D animation. I've worked with clients in marketing, coffee, rock music, tax accounting, construction & design, corrosion prevention and more.
