Warning! Ukulele is highly addictive!
Seriously, I bought my first uke in Hawaii a few years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed learning this fun instrument. I've taught quite a few uke students, and we always have a great time. Ukulele is a wonderful instrument for children and beginning adults. And uke isn't just for Hawaiian music any more! No matter your favorite genre of music, we can adapt it for ukulele. Teaching since:
January 2005

I'm a retired teacher who has played guitar for over 45 years. I'm a fingerstyle guitarist and perform at weddings and special events. I've taught most styles to all ages. I'm probably not the one to teach your teenager to play heavy metal, however. I do teach fingerpicking, fingerstyle, country, beginning to intermediate classical, pop, classic and even Hawaiian slack key. I specialize in beginning children and adults.

I also teach mountain dulcimer, ukulele, beginning bass guitar , and beginning piano.

With children, I use a method book to teach music fundamentals and balance that by encouraging the child to learn to play songs that interest him/her. With adults, I want to teach what you're interested in learning. I believe we learn best when we are excited by the material and challenged to reach the next level.

I have taught special needs music students - Down's Syndrome, mild autism, adults with arthritis or who have suffered a stroke. My training as a teacher - I have a doctorate in education - makes me uniquely qualified to work with a wide range of student abilities. I spent 26 years in the classroom, the last 15 teaching gifted education.

I would be delighted to meet you and help you begin your musical journey!

I really enjoyed my lessons. She is wonderful and has a great personality. Jody is very knowledgeable and very patient. I am looking forward to my lessons with her on Fridays. If you are a beginner or a seasoned musician she would definitely be a great fit for you.
