Express your love for music and learn important music fundamentals from a teacher with a B.A. in Music.

We'll take a journey through musical history to learn the basics of what makes music sound good. We'll start in the Baroque period and move forward all the way into the 20th century, breaking down the masterpieces of composers such as J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, W.A. Mozart, Ludwig von Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Igor Stravinsky, George Gershwin, and many, many more, to see what made them tick. We will even take a look at popular music of today to see how it lines up with what the masters did. Along the way we will composing our own short pieces in order to get a firmer grasp on what we learn from them.

My name is JJ and I love music! Music is not only what got me through the tough Jr High and High School years, it also got me through college and paved the way for all of my career moves ever since. Whether it was repairing instruments, teaching others how to repair instruments, or leading a worship band at church, music has always been there for me, and I want to share my passion for music with you! I've played several styles of music, including symphonic bands, symphonic orchestras, pit orchestras, quartets, worship bands, solo with piano accompaniment, or just me and a guitar. I can play all of the clarinets and saxophones, flute, baritone horn, acoustic guitar, and bass guitar, as well as sing. All of them come with their own challenges and rewards, whether you are just getting started for the first time, you've been playing for a couple years, or your instrument has been in the closet for 30 years and you want to pick it back up again, I can help you on your way!
