    About Jiwon H.

As a lecturer at Pennsylvania State University for three years, I have gained significant teaching experiences. In the applied piano lessons, I have taught undergraduate students majoring other instruments, vocal, or music education. Through my lessons, they have mastered scale and arpeggio in all major and minor keys, harmonization, sight-reading, and intense study of repertoires of their choice or my recommendation. Furthermore, I have been teaching a total of seven piano classes for both music undergraduates in mandatory course setting and non-music undergraduates in a liberal arts setting (each class with 16 students). In the piano classes, the students have learned from basics (e.g., letters of note, clefs, and reading music) to advanced levels (e.g., major/minor scales, transposing a tune, and fundamental music theory). Consequently, teaching non-music majors as well as music-majors at various proficiency levels has enabled me to be more comprehensive and flexible at different students’ needs.
