I am currently a graduate student at Boise State University, and Gene Harris Jazz Festival assistant. I am working towards a second Master's degree in Piano Performance (dual-focus, jazz & classical).
Recently I completed coursework for the Master's of Music Composition in Azusa, California, and I hold a triple-bachelor's degree from Northwest Nazarene University in Applied Piano, Music Theory/Composition, and Music Education, with various honors, awards, and competitive scholarships in piano performance, composition, and percussion performance. I retain an Idaho teaching certification in K-12 music, and I have over 16 years of private teaching experience.
I take an adaptable and student-centered, goal-oriented teaching approach for piano, drums, percussion, guitar, music theory, composition, and other subjects.
My experience with drum set is not limited to rock, punk, metal, jazz, latin, worship, and contemporary styles. I offer studies on various hand techniques as well as pedal techniques, particularly "heel-toe" and a special triple-rebound technique.
Experience in guitar has focused mostly on classical, folk, and rock/metal/prog (rhythm). Beginning and intermediate students starting jazz will still find these lessons very helpful. As a composer, I have written many challenging pieces of music for various ensembles.
