*** Due to Covid-19 I am offering virtual lessons only at this time *** Hi! I'm Jessie, and I'm a freelance singer and teacher in the Los Angeles area. I earned a Masters degree in Voice from the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati, and my Bachelors degree in Opera Performance from CSU Long Beach. I have been teaching beginning-advanced voice and beginning-intermediate piano for the past five years now, and I absolutely love helping my students achieve their musical goals! Although I specialize in opera and classical vocal technique, I enjoy and teach a variety of genres of music, and encourage a healthy technique with minimal tension. Currently I'm a full-time member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, where I perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. I'm a session singer for movies and TV here in LA, and have sung on numerous soundtracks including Frozen II, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and many more. I teach private lessons in the Los Angeles/Pasadena/San Fernando Valley area, and from my home studio in Pasadena. I am available to teach both piano and voice, no matter your experience level! My approach is to focus on healthy, easy singing and/or playing. Correct posture, breath, and technique are fundamentals of a healthy instrument. I also have experience with the Alexander Technique, and incorporate its many benefits into my teaching. I am comfortable teaching various styles; whether it's pop, rock, classical, or musical theater, I would love to help you achieve your singing and piano playing goals! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and I will happily answer them! *** Lesson Details *** Fun atmosphere, individualized lesson plans, no experience necessary! *** Travel Equipment *** For in-home lessons, students must have a well-tuned piano or keyboard available *** Specialties *** Opera and classical voice technique, piano, sight-reading, ear-training, classical repertoire, German diction, Italian diction, French diction

Jessie Shulman is a fantastic voice teacher. I've studied with her for 2 years. She is professional, knowledgeable, and crafts our lessons around the skills I need to work on, and helps me select repertoire to learn that utilizes those skills. She easily identifies what I'm struggling with and patiently guides me how to improve. She gives wonderful tips on how to stay vocally healthy. I've made enormous progress in my vocal performance. I highly recommend Jessie for voice lessons.
