    About Jessica Y.

    Praised for her “artistry, musicality and tonal beauty,” New York City based flutist, Jessica Yang enjoys a versatile career as a soloist, orchestral musician, and pedagogue. As a flute soloist, Jessica has performed as a concerto soloist with the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra and the Carnegie Mellon Baroque Ensemble. As an orchestral musician, Jessica performed regularly with the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic and Wind Ensemble. She has also performed with the Eastern Music Festival Orchestra and the Bowdoin International Music Festival Orchestra. Jessica has maintained a private flute studio in Massachusetts since 2009 and has inspired students of all levels with her gift of music. Her primary teachers include Jeanne Baxtresser (former Principal Flute of the New York Philharmonic), Alberto Almarza (International Flute Soloist & Pedagogue), and Tadeu Coelho (International Flute Soloist & Pedagogue). Aside from her passion and achievements in flute performance, Jessica is also accomplished in the area of arts administration. In addition to holding a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance, she also holds a Master of Arts Management and a Minor in Business Administration. (She earned all of her degrees from Carnegie Mellon University.) She currently serves as the Development & Marketing Associate at Midori & Friends and has previously held positions in development, marketing, and general administration functions at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon School of Music, Brevard Music Center, and Boston Ballet. Jessica accepts students of all ages and levels into her NYC studio and also offers private lessons through video conferencing. In addition to teaching musicality and performance training, she also engages students with business and pedagogy skills, equipping students with all of the necessary areas to be successful in the music business.
