Having spent my entire (short) life in choirs, music classes, and private lessons, I learned one thing to enforce above all else: it’s okay to be wrong. You’ll hit wrong notes, your fingers will slip, you’ll need to work on posture. And that’s okay. I was privately trained in the Belle Canto style for 10 years, but to this day I forget to breathe properly. It’s not the end of anything. It’s rarely even the end of the song. I’ve coached professional and amateur singers for 3 years, coached diction and pronunciation for 4, and worked for a local opera company for the past 4 years as well. If it’s something you choose to do, I’m prepared to instruct proper technique as applied to a multitude of languages. But above all, I strive for you to be comfortable and happy with your instruction. Music is for the soul. It should never make you feel worse to make it.
