About Jessica M.
I have been singing since I was a very young child. In High school, I started learning more about classical music, and classical vocal technique. I then went on to study Opera courses in college, and take voice lessons at the collegiate level as well. I have learned vocal skills and breathing techniques that I have been able to teach others successfully.
My job is to help each student achieve their own unique musical goals. I am very patient with all of my students and understand that everyone’s learning needs are different! I believe with practice, and by implementing consistent practice time, anyone can achieve what they want to musically. Let's see what we can achieve together, and have fun and be creative in the process!

She was very nice and funny and patient with me i really enjoy the lesson

My vocal instructor, Jessica O'Sullivan, is an experienced, friendly vocalist and I am learning the best vocal exercises to further project my voice in a full-range manner as a Mezzo Soprano/Soprano voice. I don't believe I have the best voice for opera status, but with Jessica teaching me I do believe I can eventually achieve such a range and learn to maintain the beauty that creates a true vocalist. Jessica has the voice of an angel and she was so kind to offer me her personal book entitled "Folk Songs for Solo Singers, Vol. 1" to study from while I am at home and not in lesson with her. I highly recommend Jessica's tutelage for anyone wishing to commence with voice lessons. Thank you for everything, Jessica! :)

Jess is an extremely talented person with exceptional people skills. Her ability to convey the complex aspects of classical/broadway singing in a simple and straightforward manner make her a wonderful teacher to learn from. Add to that, her ability to teach and play piano and you have an invaluable combination.

Voice Teacher
Aug 2016 - PresentDearborn School of Music
As a voice teacher, my first task is always to find out what my students musical goals are. From this point I can choose music and exercises that will help to achieve those goals. My voice classes consist of breathing techniques and vocal warm ups, and then choosing a song to work through, and going through the music step by step. When teaching a new piece, I like to run through the notes and rhythms first, then the words, and finally vocal technique and overall singing presence. My goal is to properly teach the music you are working on, while also having fun and really feeling the music! I teach voice lessons to students of all ages and levels of experience. I specialize in operatic/classical style singing, but also have experience with contemporary styles. There are a lot of layers to singing, and when put together can really create something beautiful.
Soprano
Sep 2014 - Sep 2016Littlefield Presbytarian Church
As a soprano in the Littlefield Presbyterian Church worship chorus, I gained experience in using sight reading skills to learn choral pieces sung at services. I was able to work together with other chorus members during rehearsal times to practice songs and prepare them for performances. My experience as a soprano and soloist at Littlefield Presbyterian has helped shape the performer and teacher that I am today. As a soloist at Littlefield Presbyterian, I have sung works by Handel, Bach, Schubert, and many more hymns and gospel pieces.
