Expect fun and relaxed lessons with an emphasis from the beginning of establishing a love and appreciation for music while developing and polishing technique!
Hello! My name is Jessi H. and I received a Bachelor’s of Art in Music from Bryn Mawr College and a Master’s of Music in Theory and Composition from the University of New Mexico. Playing with other people is a great joy and throughout my schooling and afterward, I have performed in in orchestras, chamber ensembles, pit ensembles, and in collaborations with artists in other mediums. I began teaching violin lessons during my undergraduate degree and have maintained a private studio since then, which has been full of a wide variety of students and has branched out to theory and composition.
My intention in the first few weeks of lessons is to identify the goals of each student and how best they learn. While familiar with most teaching methods, I prefer to modify my style of teaching to what is effective for each student. If the student is motivated by what we are playing, then skills grow exponentially faster. Students are encouraged to perform in spring and winter recitals to showcase their progress.
After three to six months, my students can expect to have a solid foundation in the subject they are studying, a start on the repertoire or subjects of their choice, and motivation to keep going!

Jessy was very knowledgeable and give me useful feedbacks and ideas on my playing. I was constantly being challenged in developing my skills and musicality and continuously growing. I would recommend her for any adult beginner like me.
Really understood my 9 year old daughter who was contemplating a switch from Suzuki to something else. Fun, engaging, energetic - highly recommended.
Jessica has a fantastic knowledge of the violin. Not only can she explain the theory behind music but relate it to everyday examples. She has a fun personality too; so she makes understanding and learning the pieces fun and easy. She taught me to learn more, push my boundaries, and gain confidence while playing.
Great Beginnering Instructor
Jessica is very patient and provides excellent feedback. She is highly knowledgeable on a variety of music types. Her studio is a positive and relaxed environment.
