Hi! My name is Jessica Fritz and I work as an interpreter and tutor for ASL. I have my Associates degree in American Sign Language and am soon hoping to go on for my bachelors degree. Learning sign language is a challenging but highly rewarding process. Personally, by me having learned ASL, it has really opened up a variety of opportunities. I have had the opportunity to become close friends with a variety of Deaf people and it has allowed me to have different job opportunities.
During my college experience, I was fortunate enough to only have Deaf professors, which really allowed me to get a grasp on true ASL. Also, since I went to college with no background knowledge of ASL, I was able to learn techniques that allowed me, as a beginner, to pick up the language.
When it comes to learning a language, everyone processes at a different level. Therefore, during my lessons I will be sure to teach at a rate that fits your specific needs. We will review vocabulary, grammar and Deaf culture during the lessons as well. These three components are all necessary to really connect to the uniqueness of ASL.
ASL is my passion and I thoroughly enjoy teaching it to whoever wishes to learn. I hope that I can soon become a part on your learning experience!
