I am a professional violinist, violin teacher, and founder of The Well-Balanced Violin Studio, an academy that teaches Suzuki and other methods of violin lessons to students of all ages, with an emphasis on healthy playing habits. I recently moved to Albuquerque, and I am excited to work with new students and perform in the area! This past spring, I completed a Masters of Music in Violin Performance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. At SMU, I studied with Diane Kitzman, Principal First Violinist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. During my studies, I taught private Suzuki lessons to 20+ students, private traditional lessons to 30+ students in the schools, and I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for undergraduate violin students. I also regularly performed with regional orchestras in Dallas. Prior to SMU, I graduated magna cum laude from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a Bachelor of Music in Classical Violin Performance. At Belmont, I studied with Elisabeth Small, former Associate Concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony and pupil of Dorothy DeLay, as well as Alison Gooding Hoffman, First Violinist of the Nashville Symphony and founding member of the Grammy nominated Alias Chamber Ensemble. I offer several types of lessons through The Well-Balanced Violin Studio, depending on you or your child's needs: Suzuki Violin Program: Designed for beginners and current Suzuki students (ages 4+). Lessons include an individual and group lesson every week, and two recitals per year. Special features of Suzuki lessons include a nurturing environment, significant parental involvement, positive community, and focus on healthy playing techniques. Aligned Violin Program: Designed for Intermediate/Advanced violin students (ages 12+) who want to boost their playing to the next level, or prevent pain, tension, and injuries while playing. Lessons include an individual and group lesson every week, and two recitals per year. Special topics of Aligned lessons include resetting the violin, discovering body awareness, breathing and stretching, and healthy playing techniques. Traditional Violin Lessons: Designed for students of all ages and levels. Lessons include an individual lesson every week and one recital per year (optional).
