I am studying for an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Texas, Dallas. I have an Associate in Science degree from Eastfield Community College in Mesquite, Texas. I am also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society for academic excellence and received a place on the All-State Academic Team.
While working towards my degree I have run many study and tutoring groups where students saw an average increase of a full letter grade. I also assisted students individually. I spent just under three years working as a biology lab assistant with Eastfield College. My job responsibilities included assisting individuals with the material presented in lab, writing experiments that supported information learned in lecture, and assisting in creating new lab manuals.
Learning should be individualized to every student. I not only work with students on the material, but also place an emphasis in organizational and study skills. I encourage students to think about the why and how to deepen understanding.
