Hello! I've been playing the guitar for around 20 years, piano for 2, and have dabbled in bass and drums on and off. Mostly this has been in a variety of flavors of rock n' roll, but my style has been fleshed out a bit doing blues, folk, funk, country, soul, R&B, Latin and then throwing it all together. For specific musical experiences, I've played in a lot of bands doing covers and originals of all of the above genres, musical theater, toured a bit, and have recorded a lot. My approach to teaching the guitar comes from a holistic perspective of music listening and performance. I like to incorporate ear training, music theory, composition skills, improvisation skills, group dynamics, and other aspects of musicianship into what you would like to learn. Understanding how a song or performance breathes, or how your playing will fit in with other instruments in a group will help you become a better player for wide range of situations you might not be familiar with. Whether you would like to learn specific songs, or just gain a better understanding of the guitar and music in general, we can work together to reach your goals. I have a lot of fun playing music. It's simply the best. Its given me a lot of other things too. I've made deep connections and lifelong friends, something universal to relate to people with, a refuge and sense of comfort when life's not so great - it is many many many things and I couldn't be more grateful to have music in my life. Sharing that with others is what I love in life the most.
