Perfect Your Screenwriting with an Award-Winning Screenwriter

I am a published playwright and award-winning screenwriter. With over 30 years of experience writing plays, screenplays, and comedy sketches, I am focused on helping you find your voice and learn the fundamentals of three act structure. Are you unsure how to format a script or what opportunities there are for writers? I can answer your questions. Have you written a script that needs feedback? I'll read it and give you comprehensive notes. Wherever you are in your development-- beginner, intermediate or advanced-- I will hone in on your strengths and weaknesses; I'll give you assignments and feedback that can help you get to the next level. I taught sketch comedy writing at The Lee Strasberg and Theatre and Film Institute in New York City and I have helped many writers with their plays and screenplays. Most recently, I won multiple awards for a spec script I wrote for the TV Show “Master of None.” I just finished a full-length play and I am gearing up to host a reading-- online-- of a full-length screenplay I finished a few months ago.

I am a working actor, published playwright and award winning filmmaker. I graduated from the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where I majored in drama. I taught Method Acting, Acting for Camera, Improvisation as well as other classes at The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York. My students, both at the Institute and from private coaching, have appeared in independent stage and film productions, TV shows, commercials and Hollywood films. I am also the Artistic Director of Gorton Drama Studio, a dramatic arts school in Lake Forest, IL. Frequently Asked Questions Q: What are your lessons like? A: My lessons are tailored for you. After understanding your goal, we do acting exercises and improvisations; we work on comedic and dramatic scripted dialogue and monologues. By the end of every session, I want you to feel like you have learned something and grown. Q: Can acting make you more confident and funnier? A: Yes! Acting will allow you to take risks and sometimes be silly. These experiences can be liberating. Q: I’ve always wanted to be an actor, but can I really do it? A: Acting is an incredible way express yourself creatively. If you want to act, there are plenty of opportunities - in a professional setting as well as in a community setting; you can fulfill your need and it can be exhilarating. Q: I have studied acting for years. How can you help me? A: I can help you work on a specific part and help you use the Method in order to create real behavior - go deeper in your acting. Q: What is Method acting? A: Method acting is reality acting - creating real behavior instead of pretending. I'd love to tell you more about it and how to use it in your acting. Let's talk! Acting is the art of bringing a character to life. I use the Lee Strasberg Method, my original exercises, and a fun and serious demeanor to help actors express themselves as artists and gain the confidence and skills they need in order to book acting jobs. My book, "The Young Actor's Handbook", is published by Applause Theatre and Cinema Books. "The Young Actor's Handbook" ignites the beginning actor's creative soul with acting exercises, acting theory, writing exercises and insight into what it means to be an actor. This is a pragmatic manual that guides and informs the young actor, beginning actor, novice acting teacher or anyone who wants to understand acting. Vincent D'Onofrio Testimonial "Jeremy K's book, "The Young Actor’s Handbook", leads the young actor on the correct path. Jeremy is an experienced acting teacher who has broken down acting in an academic way while nurturing the soul of the actor. He understands the emotional aspects of good acting. I commend Jeremy and believe he has accomplished quite a feat in writing "The Young Actors Handbook."

I have been learning from Jeremy this summer and it has been a great experience. He is a very thoughtful teacher who puts a lot of thought into how he presents the material. His lessons were engaging, useful, and he was very patient and encouraging in class. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning

Jeremy helped me understand what I have to do regarding my screenplay. He walked me through it well. I loved that I had homework to do; it helped me understand the process more.
