+ I am very excited to be teaching vocal performance with TakeLessons! Fostering the growth of musicianship in fellow musicians is rewarding and educational. + I describe myself as an open-minded and empirical musician with keen aural skills. I feel fortunate to have experienced an intensive and diverse music curriculum at Florida State University which receives high accolades as both a performance- and research-oriented institution. After studying and creating musical art under the directorship of notable professionals and music academics across multiple lines of study -- I am ready to implement creative vision! I desire to further contribute to the creation, sharing and protection of music. Sharing music with others gives me great pleasure, and I take each interaction with fellow musicians very personally. + Major Music Study of: Vocal Music Education, Music Theory/Analysis, Aural Skills, Vocal Pedagogy (Teaching Voice), Digital Music, Commercial Music/Music Industry, Opera & Theater, Western Music History, Music Literature, and Cultural Musicology. **Major knowledge of vocal styles spanning Baroque to 21st-century trends, with a particular emphasis on the European and Western vocal forms of 19th-21st centuries.** + Notable performances include opera and musical theatre productions such as the world premier of Two Songs for Tenor and Piano, Candide, The Magic Flute, Forever Plaid, among others. I have also been a soloist at St. John's Episcopal Church and contracted musical services for the Volunteer Auxiliary at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital + Originally from Tampa, Florida, I have been studying and creating music for almost 20 years. Here are some random things about me: • Countries I've been to: France, Andorra, Spain, Belize, Mexico, Bahamas • Baking bread is cool. • je parle français três bien aussi. • Graduated from Land O' Lakes High School in Florida -- let me emphasize this is NOT where butter is made =) *** Lesson Details *** + I will strive to maintain a comfortable and engaging atmosphere for learning. + The first lesson involves getting acquainted, and together, we will measure individual voice-type, vocal range, existing vocal ability / experience, and discuss any intent, purpose, or expectations the student has from future voice study. + After getting to know each prospective student's learning style and singing ability, lessons details have the propensity to vary in style and detail from one experience to the next. But aside from this, a typical structured lesson involves: (I.) exercises for relaxation of articulators, actuators (breathing), other bodily mechanisms, as well as warming-up the voice, (II.) practice and execution of established vocalises for building technique, and, (III.) expanding repertoire and learning musical concepts through singing pieces chosen by the teacher and/or the student -- the component of the lesson where most of the 'learning' emanates. In this way, music transcends expectation and one learns about the social, cultural, and historical attitudes about the society from which a piece of music emerges. In most circumstances, students will also sing and study words/concepts in foreign languages (on a comfortable level to the student). + Lessons in this voice studio are web-inclusive, and the student might need to sign up for a Youtube account! *** Studio Equipment *** Lesson studio is located in a safe and secure facility on the 4th floor of Kuersteiner Music Building at FSU. The acoustically-sealed rooms have a piano, a mirror, and adequate seating in a private setting with restroom facilities on site. Students should arrive prepared at this studio location with proper music materials. *** Travel Equipment *** I am able to provide a keyboard for use with lessons on-site, or the student may have either a piano or a keyboard of his/her ownership. *** Specialties *** + performance-oriented art music for the voice, including: operatic style, group/choral (chamber) style, music theater style, and especially Western song forms of the nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries. + experience with jazz and popular vocals also!

You will see improvement the moment you take lessons with Jeremy Barber Once I stepped into my first lesson with Jeremy Barber, I knew that I made the right decision. I have improved in some way at every single lesson. All of his teachings, from the breathing excersises to mastering a certain song, or even listening to your problems or concerns, Jeremy helps in every shape or form possible. There is never a time that I feel that my time is being wasted. I always look forward to attending a lesson with Jeremy.
