I taught a variety of courses to university students of varying skill levels at HNU, including: - Oral English - Writing - Lexicology - Pronunciation - Reading - IELTS preparation I designed most of the curriculum and course material myself. My focus was always on making the information relevant and useful to my students. Class sizes ranged from 12 students to 80. Many of my students later continued on to graduate school, some in China and many others abroad.

Self-Employed

As a tutor, my goal is to determine my students' needs and priorities, and gear the lessons toward those goals. Some classes focus on reading and acquiring vocabulary and grammatical structures; others take a more creative bent with writing and games; some are almost entirely conversation; still others might focus on specific skills like interviews or business meetings. I have taught students as young as age 3 all the way up to adults.

Self-Employed

I received my first writing awards in high school, in state- and nation-wide fiction and poetry competitions. Since then, I have self-published a collection of illustrated stories for children (and a matching coloring book); written dozens of short stories; reviewed books and music; and reflected on travel on my blog. I am currently finishing a lexicology textbook; writing a collection of Chinese myths adapted into English; and shopping my first middle-grade novel to agents.
