Hi, call me Jay. It's a nickname for Jeremi. Welcome to my profile! When it comes to music, for me, self expression is most important. Music communicates more than words alone. I've studied with the great musical families and famous instructors of New Orleans, my home town. I began as a self taught child 3 years of age. I began formal study at 5. By age 12, I began to perform professionally and by 15 was directing various choirs and ensembles in churches and musical theater companies. I've enjoyed studying and performing all styles of the U.S. and globe. I've toured the U.S. and abroad with acts from Digable Planets to Heatwave. I am a performer/song writer/recording artist/director/instructor. I love each aspect but am quite fond of teaching. The greatest reward is sharing the magic that music has been in my life. *** Lesson Details *** I like to laugh and have fun. I always ask if you're well and give whatever exciting update I may have. My students can expect me to meet them where they are musically. We'll rise to the next level together. My teaching style is always customized to the student after a proper introduction. I do encourage excellence and do not accept excuses. Learning can be fun, and as long as my students practice what is given, it will be! I intend to be prepared to instruct to the best of my ability and only require that my students be prepared and ready to be challenged in a fun way. Sometimes learning fundamentals can seem slow. I ask all students to trust that once the foundation is laid, we can really take off at an exciting pace. With my system, after six months, a beginner is ready for recital. Intermediate students can play a pro gig. Advanced students can hit that level they've longed after. *** Studio Equipment *** HOME: lessons in living room, digital piano *** Travel Equipment *** Portable digital piano *** Specialties *** Classical, Jazz, Blues, Country, Latin, Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, Electronic, World, Pop. I tend to prefer super learning methods wherein a student is given a brief crash course then immediate opportunity to apply what was taught and praised heavily for their effort. You'll be surprised what you can already do! Then the material is studied in depth. I like to teach after the student and I have had just a little bit of fun together.

I was very skeptical about taking piano lessons online but I am so glad that I did. Taking piano lessons online with Jay almost feels as if you are in the same room with your teacher. Jay is an excellent teacher. He is very patient and he makes it easy for you to understand the lesson. He pays very close attention to details. I would highly recommend Jay to anybody.

Great motivator Jeremi has been working with our daughter for a few months, and he has done a great job to keep her engaged. He gives her managable assignments and little steps she can take to improve. Jeremi also motivates by focusing on material that interests her and sharing his own successes. Our daughter enjoys her lessons and is always excited afterwards.

Student's Father Jeremi was an excellent teacher. He was positive, patient, and supportive. He worked with our daughter for several months to prepare our ambitious budding actress for her first singing role. Her growth was amazing. He even attended her opening night. Thanks for everything!!
