    About Jenny B.

Jenny Bishop (acting professionally as Jenny Phagan) has been performing and teaching acting for nearly 20 years in both Dallas and Los Angeles. She is currently on faculty at Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy where she teaches Acting, Film, and Costuming. Her students have risen to state and national acclaim and most recently, she directed Bullets over Broadway which received the award for Best Musical at the Dallas Summer Musical High School Musical Theatre Awards. She has her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX and her Master of Acting from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. Upon graduating her master’s program, Jenny returned to Texas where she began her teaching career at Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, TX. While teaching at CHHS, Jenny’s students were statewide and nationally recognized for various acting and technical theatre competitions. She had numerous TFA state qualifiers and winners, UIL Prose and Poetry winners, and numerous NFL (NSDA) national qualifiers. Her students won several awards from the Betty Buckley High School Musical awards at Casa Manana, most notably OKLAHOMA in 2007. At that time, Jenny was also awarded the Hummer Hero Award for Outstanding Theatre Teacher in North Texas. In 2007, Jenny left public school teaching and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. Almost immediately upon arriving in LA, Jenny was cast in a short film which premiered at the Elevate Film Festival at the Kodak (now the Dolby) Theatre in Hollywood where she was awarded Best Actress for her work. She has appeared in numerous film and television roles as well as many radio and television commercials. A few of her credits include American Crime, Dexter, Parks and Recreation, and the feature film J. Edgar starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Clint Eastwood; but her favorite role is playing Artie and Diggie’s Mom on Disney Channel's Liv and Maddie. Additionally, she has directed numerous plays and musicals which often receive high acclaim. She is proud of the success her students achieve and is blessed to be a part of their journey. Her teaching is influenced by the methods of Stanislavski, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, Larry Moss and Nancy Banks, with whom she currently still studies. She is represented in Los Angeles by Abrams Artists Agency and HG5 Entertainment and in Dallas by the Mary Collins Agency.
