Are you already a singer that wants to become better at your craft? Do you have an audition or competition coming up that you want to be prepared for? Or, have you always wanted to sing, but think that you can't carry a tune in a bucket? I can help you! We will work on vocal basics such as breathing, placement of tone, and recognizing the difference between head voice and chest voice in addition to music basics such as rhythm, pitch, sight-reading, and more. Voice students must have the prescribed method book, any solo literature assigned to them by their teacher, and a piano or keyboard. Saxophone and violin students must have their own instrument (please feel free to ask where to rent or buy one so that we can ensure you are getting a quality instrument at a good price), a music stand, the prescribed method book, and any solo literature assigned to them by their teacher that they would like to work on. Piano students must have the prescribed method book and a piano or keyboard.

*** Specialties ***
I have been classically trained to sing in the "Bel Canto" (Classical) style of singing and teach my students the same method. I have experience teaching both choirs and orchestras in the public schools. I also have experience playing and teaching saxophone. As for method books, I use "The Sight Singer" to help vocalists with learning to read music. On saxophone, I have my students use the "Standard of Excellence" and "Rubank" method books. For violinists, I use "Essential Elements for Strings." For all students, vocalists, saxophonists, pianists, and violinists, I specialize in helping students prepare for solo and ensemble competitions as well as any other type of formal performance or assessment. I also specialize in music theory coaching whether it's for the A.P. Music Theory Exam, All State Exam, or just a need for general music knowledge.

I'm an older student and she was very professional and patient with me. She introduced herself when we met and started the lesson on time. I thought the lesson went very well and would refer her to other students for lessons.
