I began playing guitar at 12 years old. Before that I had dappled with the piano and always sang. There was something about the guitar that just drew me in! I always loved seeing the hands of guitar players and the sounds that would accompany those shapes. Guitar is a very pattern based instrument. Once you learn the patterns and intentionally "program" those patterns into your playing, you eventually don't have to think about the theory or the pattern you can just play guitar effortlessly! But first it takes practice. Not just any kind of practice, perfect practice that is consistent. If you play a different fingering each time you play the same scale it can make learning the pattern harder. it's like you are always doing something different to get the same result! This slows the guitar learning process. I will give you effective learning practices to begin to accelerate your guitar playing skills! Everyone wants to express themselves with ease and practicing the patterns of guitar "language" is the key! I began teaching at my hometown of Lake Ronkonkoma Long Island NY back in 2004. Since then, I have also studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. My dual major of Professional Music ( self directed major where I studied guitar, bass, piano, drum set, percussion, song writing and music business) and Music Production and Engineering. I have played in professionally in several bands including my band Stealing Earth and the Ludmila Stefanikova Quintet touring Europe on electric guitar. My Music Engineering degree has brought me to work in the studio and live venue settings. I am the former house sound engineer of the famous listening venue Lizard Lounge Cambridge, MA, working closely with resident artists, Club d'Elf, Dennis Brennan Band and MC Kabir. I've also had the pleasure of engineering in several studios including the studio of Susan Rogers who was Prince's sound engineer and one of my teachers. I have also engineered the band Kung Fu at Jungle Jam, Best Fest and Mike Love at Envision Festival in Costa Rica. I specialize in Roots, Rock, Reggae, Afro-Cuban and R&B. I also can play funk, classical, jazz and slide guitar. Whether you are just starting out, want to try a new style, want recording or song writing tips or just want to learn to have a zen guitar practice, I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience!
