I am a pianist who started playing at the age of 19. One of my biggest influences is the singer/songwriter Tori Amos. The way she plays the piano and composes is just mesmerizing to me. I was always drawn to the piano and embraced classical music. I felt that I could compose and play just like she does and the classical composers had. So, I purchased my first piano and jumped into lessons just like the little ones do! I've found that this knowledge of learning at an older age helps most adults because they seem to shy away from taking lessons later in life. Your never too old to learn I tell them! I completed my first Beethoven Sonata within my first three months of lessons and my second Sonata by month six. Piano seemed to be a very good fit with me. By the time I was two years into lessons, my instructor told me I was ready to teach. In the two years I had been playing, I was already at a ten year level. My students range from the age 5 to 88 as my oldest. And no two students are alike with the way they learn, what they want to learn and how or when to practice. I may be classically trained but we can go in any direction that you the student want to go. I have taught pop, classical, spiritual and rock. Blues and Jazz aren't my strong suit, but I have dabbled in that. The one thing you will find is how relaxed the atmosphere is and you aren't forced into recitals or to play songs you hate. Lessons are taught in a private room so you aren't out on display for any other people to hear. I teach on a Yamaha digital piano and also a grand piano. For those who are into social media, I have a full ultra HD camera to record your performance and upload onto your favorite outlet . The possibilities are endless!
