Jennifer E. is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Art Therapist. She has worked with students of all ages and backgrounds from working with parents and their children under the age of 3 to older adults. Jennifer's hands on teaching style coupled with her easy instruction helps people easily grasp her lessons and take more home then a general how-to; they learn how to incorporate their new ability into their life perspective, learning greater lessons of life while picking up a new skill. Jennifer has used art in her therapeutic teaching for children and adults with all developmental levels for more than ten years. Jennifer studied Psychology, Art, Biology, and Chemistry in undergrad at Florida State University. She later got her graduate degree in Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School.

I have been teaching painting for over ten years. My teaching has been mostly focused in a therapeutic environment, helping people overcome life struggles while learning how to paint or do other artistic tasks. My teaching style is hands on and creativity driven. My students are encouraged to explore the media and become fully comfortable with traditional techniques and encouraged to take their training to build on their own experiences and create their own style. In the beginning first few lessons, students will get a brief history and understanding of basic principles and techniques. They will be able to speak the artist language and know how to describe their process. My teaching philosophy is to enjoy the process. With comfort and confidence comes the best skills and artworks.
