*** Lesson Details ***
All lessons will begin with students playing assigned pieces for instructor to assess the performance, and then new musical selections will be discussed, explained, demonstrated, and rehearsed with student. Finally, weekly assignments will be given.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I teach out of the loft in our home...it's a big, open room. I have an electronic keyboard for piano students to use. There are specific method books I like to use for teaching, and those will be required of students. I also have sheet music that will periodically be given to students as part of their weekly assignments. I have extra chairs for caregivers to stay and listen...family members are always welcome to stay for the lessons.
*** Travel Equipment ***
No travel equipment...instructor teaches out of private studio.
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in beginner, intermediate, and advanced piano students. Having been a middle school band director, and a woodwind player myself, I do have experience teaching all wind instruments and percussion instruments. However, at this time, I am only accepting piano students.
I currently am a Kindermusik educator in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I teach music classes for children ages 0 - 5 years, and their caregivers. We sing, move to music, explore age-appropriate instruments and props, rhymes, finger plays, active listening...and work on developing many age-appropriate skills (such as language development, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, body control and coordination, listening skills, social skills, etc.).
Jen has taught private lessons on piano, percussion, and all wind instruments to students of all ages...beginner, intermediate, and advanced level students.
I was a general music teacher, band director for beginning, intermediate and advanced bands, director of jazz bands and wind ensembles, director and composer for percussion ensemble, piano accompanist to my students for annual Solo & Ensemble Festival...for 9 years at Polo Park Middle School in Wellington, Florida (West Palm Beach). (Prior to that, I worked at two elementary schools in Port Huron, Michigan, as a general music teacher...and prior to that I was the assistant elementary band director in Southfield, Michigan.)
Jen accompanied many students for Solo & Ensemble Festivals in both Southfield, Michigan, as well as in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Students were at the middle school level.
Jen earned certification, and is currently a licensed Kindermusik Educator and Business Owner.
