    About Jeff M.

Jeff M. was a vagabond who was born in the Ortiz Mountains, learned to crawl over the lush hills of Marin, skipped over the chili fields in New Mexico, and walked through the deserts of Arizona, to settle back into Marin for a while. It was in Arizona where he found his purpose in life while playing bass in a surf-jazz-rock band on the Hopi reservation. He eventually came back out of the desert wiser, stronger… eclectic. Bass is where he hangs his hat. Literally sometimes. He’s also been known to pick up a guitar from time to time to sing a song or two. Rockabilly, Honky-Tonk, Surf, Swing, Metal, and Jazz. – “It’s all good!” *** Lesson Details *** If you're like me it drives you crazy when teacher tells you to "Practice, practice, practice.". Like many creative people I suffer from attention deficit disorder. When I was a young music student I found it difficult to maintain a regular practice schedule and keep motivated. My brain rejects the notion of taking an activity that I love and forcing it into a regiment of daily rigor. While discipline and structure work for many people, I had to rethink my entire approach to music in order to stay focused enough to become proficient. My method is simple. It allows you to come to your instrument on your terms, in your time, driven by your love, passion, and desire for music. *** Studio Equipment *** amps and the guitars, basses w/ seating for parents *** Travel Equipment *** I will bring one instrument for me to play plus a small two channel amp if needed. Student will provide own instrument. *** Specialties *** My musical background includes rock, blues, jazz, swing, and rockabilly. Many students, like me, struggle with attention deficit issues. My teaching methods include tricks for coping with attention deficit disorder and finding ways to stay focused and keep growing and learning on your instrument.
