Drums with Jeff K.

Jeff Koy-Ouk has been performing, collaborating, and writing with artists of all styles for over 20 years. He began teaching himself to play at the age of eight, and by middle and high school was performing in symphonic and marching bands. Jeff then studied drum performance and music theory at the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, CA. While in LA, he studied audio engineering with emphasis on sound for film at the SAE Institute. When he's not teaching you can find Jeff engineering projects in his recording studio, working with projects he's involved in, jamming with musicians from the area, or taking in a great hockey game. While teaching he likes to focus on reading and writing drum notation, technique, coordination and timing. Drumming influences include Abe Cunningham (Deftones), Jon Theodore (Mars Volta/Queens of the Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Nirvana) and Steve Gadd (session drummer), just to name a few. Some musical influences include The Beatles, Deftones, Chet Baker, Joao Gilberto, Jeff Buckley, and so many more.
