Sewing

Levels Taught:
Beginner
Hello . . . I have been sewing as a hobby for most of my life, and lately I've started teaching both children and adults, and I love it! It is awesome to see students' ideas come to life as they complete a project. If you've always wanted to learn to sew, now is your chance to learn in a relaxing and fun environment. The most important part is that you will learn to sew what you want -- whether it's clothing, household items, quilts, Girl Scout badge requirements, blankets for hospitals, or costumes for school plays! Have any questions? Send me a message and let's get started!

Teaching since:
2014

I am a sewing teacher with many years of sewing experience. I have sewn my own clothing and for others, including babies, children and adults. I have created and sewn numerous quilts and household items which I have given out as gifts. My students have told me that I inspire them and most have bought sewing machines by the time we're done with the lessons! They continue on with projects of their own.

I like to keep learning and growing by taking advanced sewing lessons whenever there is something new I want to learn. This style of learning has inspired me to teach my students to be creative and to make exactly what interests them, to help them bring their ideas to life,

I teach in the Oxnard and Santa Clarita areas, but am mobile to many other areas of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. If you don't have a sewing machine, it is not a problem as I have machines available. I teach students from age 8 years old to 80 years old, at whatever speed is comfortable for you. It's exciting at any age to learn a craft which has been around throughout history. I look forward to meeting with you and being the one to inspire you to sew!

During these lessons here are just some of the things you will learn:
* How to use a sewing machine
* How to select fabrics and patterns
* How to cut fabrics and prepare them for sewing
* How to assemble and sew your project!
* Use of various sewing tools and the importance of an iron
* Hemming and finishing techniques

You Can Sew That

I have loved to sew and within the past two years I have enjoyed teaching others, whenever I could. As soon as I stopped working at my daytime job, in September 2017, I have been able to take on more sewing work and increase available time for teaching.

I knew nothing about sewing and she was very patient. I was so excited doing my first project...just a simple little pillow, but I learned a lot 😀

Jean is a very caring and gifted teacher. She is passionate about sewing and will help you to be also. I am not an experienced sewer and somewhat shy but she put me completely at ease. She is very easy to talk to, understand and is a joy! You will not regret that you chose her.

If you are looking for an honest dependable person to teach you how to sew Jean is the teacher for you. She will work with you until you get it. She has worked with a huge variety of fabrics and has sewn for many years. If you are wondering if this is a skill worth teaching your children then the answer is yes. Either to do their own alterations or sew their own costumes. Consider making your own Comic Con costume!
