I have been a vocal health advocate and a music specialist for several years. Keeping your musical mind in shape and teaching you to be conscious of what you are doing with your talent is a top priority. I believe in giving you the opportunity to learn to sing healthy with any style of music or to play the piano with thoughtful creativity and solid technique. I believe that each student is different, so each student will be taught differently. We will work together to find your own musical truth. You are an individual and I cannot make you into a copy of someone else, we will discover the musician inside of you. You will be taught in an environment that is full of confidence building and positive feedback. Do expect to do some things that are out of the box. There will be times that conventional methods don’t work for you and we have to try something a little more creative. I will always give you prompt feedback in a positive manner. I believe in building up confidence and self-esteem, so negative criticisms do not exist in my studio! I am currently receiving my Master of Arts in Music Education through Teachers College at Columbia University. I attended Hastings College earning my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education. I participated in organizations such as NMEA (National Music Educators Association), Sigma Alpha Iota, a national music women’s honors fraternity, SNATS (Student National Association of Teachers of Singing), the Hastings College Choir and HC Singers for four years, along with two semesters of Spectrum, a small number of members chosen from the Hastings College Choir to perform more difficult pieces. I am still a part of many of these organizations at the professional level. I started piano lessons in the second grade and voice lessons in the ninth grade, and have continued to take them both throughout my college careers. All of these activities, along with my classes and hours in school, have contributed to my skills and knowledge about my content area. I have loved music for as long as I can remember and dedicated myself to becoming a music teacher when I began second grade. I have stayed true to my passion of music and will continue to grow and learn as an educator for the rest of my life. I want students to love music as much as I do. I have learned a lot about what it is to advocate for and lead students to a life-long enjoyment of music. I cannot wait to take you to the next step in becoming a musician. Music is one of mankind’s most brilliant achievements. It has the power to strike a chord in every life and I want to make sure that every student has that opportunity!

We have loved our experience working with Jayne! Working with Jayne has been a great pleasure! Her unique and very learner-centered way of customizing my daughter's experience in her singing lessons has been so amazing. We have been working with Jayne for close to a year, and I continue to be more and more impressed with her holistic approach and the results I see in terms of my daughter's growth as a vocalist. Tessa has not only grown in her ability and confidence as a singer, she has also grown as a human being through her work with Jayne. Jayne is very timely and professional and also very flexible to boot. I would highly recommend Jayne to other parents considering vocal lessons for their child. .

Jayne is wonderful! My son has gone to Jayne for lessons for the greater part of a year. Aside from being a wonderful human being, I will list all the reasons why she is an absolutely amazing teacher. - She communicates really well with my son, AND with me. About everything from lesson plans to our schedule. - She is patient, and kind to her students. - She is always on time, and is very good about any schedule conflicts... and she always has things planned out. - Not only is my son becoming a seriously amazing little piano player, he actually LIKES Jayne, as a person. Our time with her is always great. He is excelling in music theory and performance, beyond what I ever expected. Can't say enough good things about her!

HIGHLY recommend Jayne for your child Jayne has taught my niece, Caroline, vocal lessons for over a year and I have to say, she is probably the best singing teachers out there. Jayne has a "student-centered" approach to teaching so Caroline chooses what she wants to learn and sings the songs she wants to sing. Yet, in every lesson, Jayne spouts out gems of knowledge ranging from how to sing healthily to the essentials of music (reading music, understanding percussion, music writing.) It's more than just singing lessons, Jayne cares about the child growing as a musical individual. Lessons with Jayne are fun, interactive, and completely engaging. I know Caroline looks forward to them, as do I.
