M.M. Flute Performance

Take your flute playing skills to the next level with guidance from an experienced flutist and teacher.

I am a flute player based in Boston. I have been playing for 10 years and teaching for 5 years now and am absolutely delighted to work with students, but more importantly, to see that they are having fun and growing in the process. My lessons will cater to each student's individual needs, while working on the fundamentals of flute playing and playing a wide range of pieces.

Hi everyone! My name is Javier and I am currently a Master's student at the New England Conservatory of Music. I received my Bachelor's of Music in Flute Performance at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. There, I did extensive study in chamber music and had the opportunity to play in many small ensembles such as woodwind quintets, flute choirs, and a flute, viola, and harp trio. I was also a member of the wind ensemble and the symphony orchestra for multiple years, as well as a substitute for the Waco Symphony Orchestra. In my time there I participated in and won the Semper Pro Music Competition, a school-wide competition where soloists and chamber groups participate for a chance to give a recital at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. I was fortunate enough to win in both divisions and perform in the hall as a soloist and in a flute quartet. I have also served as an intern for the American Festival for the Arts summer program in Houston, TX, where some of my responsibilities included teaching chamber groups of middle school and high school students. Outside of college, I have also participated in the Texas Summer Flute Symposium, where I was named Outstanding Performer. I have also been selected to perform in the Carnegie Hall Honors Performance Series collegiate program. Prior to my undergrad, I advanced to the All-State level 3 times in the Texas Music Educator's Association and placed in the top orchestras twice, providing me with much experience and knowledge in the process to succeed in state-level competitions! My primary professors include Charlotte Daniel and Paula Robison, and I have been fortunate enough to take classes with professional flautists such as Elizabeth Rowe, Jennifer Grim, Conor Nelson, Kaori Fujii, Marianne Gedigian, and Leone Buyse.
