I am Jatara Newell, a native from Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. I'm a daughter to two wonderful parents and a sister to a younger brother and older sister. My dance career wouldn't be as blessed as it is without my family. I have been dancing consistently for 12 years and teaching for 6 years. My training first began at the church I attend (Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ontario, Ca) where I learned liturgical/ praise dance. Through that experience I've grown closer to God and learned how to express what he's done for me through several elements of performing arts such as drama, stage presence and of course movement! I've also trained under numerous dance teachers from Colony High School, Los Osos High School, Riverside Community College, and Cal State San Bernardino. I have an AA in Fine Arts, working towards Bachelors and Masters degree in dance. My experience in dance includes but not limited to; Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, African, Bollywoord, Modern, Contemporary, Liturgical, and Lyrical.
I'm a dance instructor for the City of Montclair Human Services Dept. I teach Jazz Funk on Mondays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Contemporary on Fridays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for ages 10-16.
I taught hip-hop, Jazz, and Ballet to children and teens ages 4-16. Students also performed in annual recitals
I was the Hip-Hop Instructor to kids ages 4-16, where they learned basic fundamentals of choreography and performance.
