I am a professional drummer, recording artist, and educator, with over 26 years performing and teaching. I graduated from Stony Brook University with a minor is Jazz, and as a founding member of the university's big band, the "SBU Blowage," under the direction of legendary trombonist, Ray Anderson. Drum students will see immediate positive results from lessons, including improved technical abilities and the confidence to explore new musical pathways on their journey to find their own sound and style. I teach symphonic snare drum, orchestral percussion, drum set, rudimental percussion, hand percussion with associated NYSSMA requirements. I have experience with students of all different ages, abilities and experience levels. I've studied percussion and drum set since 1990, and rudimental and hand drums since 1999. I can teach students to read music, as well as transcribe arrangements and transpose by ear. With consistent lessons, students can learn to play along to their favorite music, and develop confidence to practice and perform with other musicians in a group setting. As a professional touring and recording artist, I am happy to share my knowledge of playing in multiple musical settings, and the "business" of playing music. My passion is for live performance, and it is essential to help students feel confident while playing for an audience. Our focus will be on developing proper technique, listening carefully and critically to recordings, and building a foundational music vocabulary via reading and writing. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and expertise with you!
