I picked up a guitar when I was eight and became a blues/rock/funk guitarist over the years. After earning my BA in Economics at Harvard, I followed my true passion and began playing music professionally. I then returned to school at Berklee Music College, and later earned a Guitar Specialist Certificate from Berklee Music Online. I played in venues from Oregon to Vermont before moving to the Boston area in 2000, where I played professionally in a rock band around Boston and Massachusetts venues. I'm currently performing as solo instrumentalist. My guitar heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, John Lee H., Duane Allman, D. Betts, Prince, Eric Gales, Mississippi John Hurt, Clarence White, Tony Rice, Norman Blake... I love to jam and improvise guitar solos inspired by the greats, and as well as listening to my favorite guitarists, I also listen to just about everything under the sun and appreciate all types of music. I love great guitar playing within great SONGS—I'm a lyricist and composer myself. I grew up listening to a lot of The Beatles, Billy Joel, Elton John, U2, and am still a Michael Jackson fan. I've studied all kinds of rock, blues, funk, bluegrass, and jam band styles. I've been learning and teaching the guitar most of my life, so I can not only teach you what you want to learn, but I can also teach how to learn what you want to learn going forward. *** Lesson Details *** I'm attentive in listening to what you want, finding where your strengths are, and partnering with you to support you in learning things that you might not pick up by yourself or on YouTube. I've taught people of all ages and abilities from children age 7 to adults in their 60s. I evaluate how you best learn, take in how you most enjoy learning and structure the lessons accordingly. The lessons are always interactive, collaborative, and respectful of the musical partnership - Oh yeah, and we'll make them fun too! ***Parents can sit in on lessons*** *** Studio Equipment*** I can provide an acoustic or electric guitar (with amplifier) for the lesson.
