Music Theory with Jared C.

My name is Jared. I teach music lessons in Nashville, I teach students from ages 6 to 65. I can teach drums, piano, guitar, bass and other instruments, for just about any style including pop, rock and classical. I have Bachelor of Arts in Music from Arizona State University, where I specialized in Guitar performance. I'm a firm believer that playing music and learning an instrument should be fun, and I try to emphasize that in every lesson I teach. The curriculum that I use is entirely tailored to the student, based off of their needs and skill level, as well as the style of music they listen to. I have a simple approach to learning a new instrument, you get what you put into it. If you take lessons with me, I will make it my goal to see you get excited about learning an instrument and utilizing your own creativity! *** Lesson Details *** We will start with the basics of any instrument in the first lesson. From there, I gauge the students ability to pick up on the music and his/her playability, thus tailoring the curriculum around their abilities, passions, and desires for the future of their instrument-playing. Typically within the first 2 lessons, the student is playing songs that they have wanting to play, and maybe thought would be too hard. The best thing to bring to me as a student or parent is a list of songs or artist that the students likes to listen to and would like to play. *** Studio Equipment *** living room, 3 couches, drum set, guitars, amps...parents can sit in anytime. *** Specialties *** I can teach jazz, blues and rock style guitar and bass. On drums, I can teach a student rock and blues, funk and pop music, and some mild jazz. I know scales, modes, and still have many music theory books from college that I pull from for teaching.
