Music is every person's birthright. It's a way of knowing, a way of being. Music is multi-cultural. Music learning will open up pathways in your brain that will make it easier to learn other subjects. It provides a way of expressing yourself and an outlet for your joy and pain. What aspects of music would you like to learn? I have taught piano and music theory for 25 years and Music Together classes for families with young children for 15 years. Currently singing A cappella, 4 part harmony with Women of Note chorus and All 4 WoN quartet. Presently studying advanced music theory and arranging as a candidate of Harmony Inc.'s contest judging program. I have many years of experience teaching children and adults of all skill levels and abilities. Students with autism, attention deficit disorder, sensory issues and other learning differences are welcome and treated with patience, kindness and respect. I have experience with this population and have cultivated many resources and relationships with experts that guide me in teaching individuals with special needs. Every child in my program will be taught as an individual with his/her own unique learning style. Developmentally appropriate techniques will be used along with teaching strategies that cater to each child's personality and learning temperament. Teenagers are busy people who juggle so many responsibilities. In addition to teaching their lessons and helping them to grow musically, I will provide them with practice strategies that will fit into their hectic schedules. I also enjoy teaching adults of every skill level. There is no rush, no stress. Just the pride and excitement of learning something new. So if learning to play piano or sing has always been on your bucket list, let's tackle it together and make it happen!

Janet really put me at ease as I was a bit nervous. She identified areas where I was reasonably strong and areas where we should strive for improvement, and (what seemed to me) innovative ways to achieve improvement. I'm really looking forward to my next lesson!
