Accordion with Jan F.

I am professional accordion and keyboard player from Cologne, Germany, now based in Austin, Texas. I began playing the accordion at the age of seven and was immediately fascinated by the variety of the instrument. I found my musical orientation playing Blues, Jazz, Country and World Music. I played across Europe and appeared on national television. After moving to Austin, I obtained a degree in Jazz Performance and Composition. Since then I have been working as a professional accordionist, keyboard player, teacher and composer. I work with several bands including Ulrich Ellison & Tribe with whom I won the 2015 Austin Music Awards for Best Blues Band. Other bands, ​I work with are: Nakia and The Blues Grifters, Grupo Massa, Seu Jacinto, The Gritones, and Macaxeira Funk. In 2016 I received the Austin Music Awards in the category Best Miscellaneous Instrument Accordion. I am intrigued by the diversity of the accordion and want to show that it has its home and many genres.
