Theater Acting

Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
What makes me unique is my 20 years experience in practical application both as an actor and a director. My personal philosophy for this business is that there is no one true way to present all material. Our craft, much like ourselves, is a living, ever-changing and adapting entity. My acting/directing tool-belt incorporates many methods, from Meisner, Adler, to viewpoints and Stanislavsky. I believe that the best work is reached when you are ready and willing to utilize all resources.

To optimize our sessions, you should arrive with your monologue off-book so that we have the full time to explore, create and tighten the reading in order to get you to a comfortable, natural place that's right for you and utilizes the skills in your growing tool-belt. We will explore your character background choices, tackle any language barriers and break down beats for maximizing both comedic and dramatic effect.

My aim will always be to help you become as prepared as you can be, whether walking into an audition room or onto the stage. It is my goal and passion to participate in the creative process with you, as we strive towards perfection in this very challenging yet fantastically rewarding field.

My career as an actor, singer and director spans more than 20 years. At the young age of 14, as part of a production of Big River at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, I realized that theatre was the path for me. I later earned my B.A. in Theatre with a minor in vocal music from Lambuth University where I led casts in such shows as The Fantasticks, The Diviners, and Amadeus. I also discovered my knack and love for directing, taking on children's theatre and mounting a fantastic main stage production of Terra Nova.

My path took me to Los Angeles, where I continued my acting career in theatre, film and TV. Some of my favorites include Freddie the American in Chess, The Fool in King Lear, Arturo Ui in Brecht's The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, and Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream performed both in L.A. and Frankfurt, Germany. As a director, I successfully brought to life such wonderful scripts as A Piece of my Heart, In the Heart of America and the controversial Marat/Sade.

Within a few months of arriving to New York, I was cast as the Emcee U/S in a national tour of the musical Cabaret. Soon after my return, I booked the two-person Off-Broadway hit comedy Channeling Kevin Spacey in which I played 15 different characters and ran for a solid two years!
