    Hello. My name is Jim. I have been working with databases for 30 years as a DBA. Before being a DBA I was a software developer. My focus is relational databases but have also worked with noSQL and document databases as well. I have created many small technology businesses over the years, but mostly for a learning perspective. I have consulted, mentored interns and IT professionals, and taught public classes. Some topics include: Unix System Administration, Oracle Database Administration, and shell scripting. I have taught beginners up through advanced topics. I am easy going and a good communicator. I love noticing the "click" when students suddenly realize they "get it".     I have been involved with learning relational database technology, specifically Oracle, from the ground up. I have been working with Oracle for around 30 years. Over the past 7 years I have picked up other database technologies including: Cassandra and Mongodb. I am also in the process of learning other technologies such as Postgres and Cockroach DB. I have worked with small and large systems. I am a self-learner and love to help others learn as well. For the past 4 years I have been the lead mentor for college interns in my group.
