Saxophone with James S.

Hello prospective students, My name is James and I am offering my services as a teacher and a mentor for woodwinds. My main instrument is saxophone but I do play and practice the flute, clarinets, and trumpet. My musical background began when I was 11 years old. I decided to learn how to play the saxophone. I played the saxophone my entire educational career which includes middle school through college. I have participated in concert bands, jazz bands, and marching bands. I had a brief stint in which I picked up piano lessons but was unable to continue due to hardships. After graduating with my masters degree with an unrelated education I decided to move to New Orleans to pursue my dream of playing professionally. I lived in New Orleans for five years. I started my own bands and I also participated in other bands. I have very serious performing experience and am able to approach music not only as a performer but as a professional. I do not constrict myself to playing jazz. This is a misconception that all saxophones strictly play jazz. Let's work together to end the stigma! I am extremely confident in saying that I have unique particularity that will distinguish me from any other musician on this website. That particular trait is that I have confronted some of the most challenging musical scenarios due to my willingness to fail and try. This is one characteristic that I have seen the majority of musicians lack. I approach music not only in a practical and educational way but also as a method of practicing my spirituality and as a way of molding my character for good. That being said my ultimate objective as a teacher would be to instill in you the discipline and knowledge to where you will feel confident to not need a continuing tutor. I will give you the skills and tools needed for self development. Any tutor or teacher should only be needed to give you the basics and when needed to assist with a complex or challenging scenario. If you want a person that has actual experience playing music professionally and academically then I am your go to guy. I will not waste your time or your money and I will not charge ridiculous prices for lessons. I can and will tutor any age. Gratefully, James
