James Patterson (French Horn) was born in the Principality of Monaco and moved to Seattle, Washington at the age of 5. He began his musical studies at age 6 as a soprano in the Northwest Boys Choir and began playing French horn in 2006 at the age of 12. Before graduating high school, James soloed with and appeared as Principal Horn of many orchestras throughout the Seattle area. He has attended the Marrowstone, Round Top, and Kent Blossom festivals and was Principal Horn of the 2017 New Hampshire Music Festival. James has played solo recitals at The Juilliard School, University of Washington, Indiana University, and the China Conservatory. He also taught masterclasses at the China Conservatory in Beijing, and the Jiangsu Normal University in China. James graduated the Juilliard School in 2016 and is currently a Barbara and David Jacobs fellowship recipient at Indiana University. His Principal teachers have included Mark Robbins, Erik Ralske, and Dale Clevenger.
