    About James M.

I am a highly experienced voice teacher with a long performance history as well. I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate in Vocal Performance. I have won many vocal competitions, including being a winner in the Northwest Regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions, the San Francisco Opera Auditions, and the prestigious Eleanor Lieber vocal competition, among many others. My performance career spans 30+ years, and includes approximately 3500 stage performances in Opera, Music Theater, and Concert performances. Throughout my performance career, I have also taught vocal students extensively at all different levels and in all different genres of music. My students have gone on to have successful careers of their own in classical, music theater, and rock, not the least of whom is John Tristao, the lead vocalist for Creedence Clearwater Revisited. My voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique, if they apply and practice the principles taught in each lesson. Every voice is unique; I teach students to breathe and support the voice correctly in order to release built up tension and then apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual and unique sound. I can help any student to sing with more freedom, confidence, and expression. In addition to the above, I teach students how to find the joy in singing and making music...and we have a wonderful time doing it!

Can't say enough good things about James Moore as a voice teacher. He has helped me so much!! He is kind and patient and always knows what to say to help you understand how to sing. He is very knowledgeable about vocal technique and very quickly diagnosed the areas where I needed the most work. He helped me with voice placement as well as breathing the proper way to support my tone. Getting over my break was always a challenge, but Jim knew exactly how to get me to understand the concept and showed me just how to work through that difficulty. I highly recommend anyone, regardless of the style of music you want to sing, to take lessons from Jim. You will get control of your voice. You do have to practice though :)"

James is truly the best instructor ever. His mastery of the technical aspects of the voice, warm style, passion, and ability to draw expression out of his pupils has had a major impact on my life and career. He's guided me in classical singing, sacred music, oratorio, opera as well as musical theatre. I couldn't possibly recommend him highly enough. He really is a 1 in a million talent.
