    About James A.

Welcome to my page! I want to make your learning fun, I want to make your learning engaging, and most of all, I want you to feel like you can do anything you set your heart to! I am a serious person and musician that also loves to laugh, make jokes, and make everyone feel comfortable, included, and successful. In my free time, I write poetry, cook, watch anime, and play Destiny 2. I am originally from Seattle, Washington, and I am a professional clarinetist with freelancing experience in South Florida and New York City. My first loves of music are Ray Charles, MC Hammer, and Dvorak's "New World Symphony". Music has been inseperable from my heart ever since. I have been teaching for over 10 years tutoring clarinet students of all ages, from kindergartners to fellow professionals and Seniors. I have performed with the Miami Symphony and South Florida Symphony. I worked as an artist clinician at West Boca Raton Community High School where I designed custom lesson plans for the clarinet students there. I have also toured the cities of Szeged and Budapest in Hungary with the Syzygy Wind Quintet, where I worked with and performed for conservatory students at the University of Szeged. My life goal is to show by example how connected music and life are. I know not everyone wants to be a great musician, but everyone wants to be inspired and to inspire others, and that is what I focus all my energy on teaching and doing. Bachelor of Music with Performer's Certificate, Eastman School of Music Master of Music, Lynn Conservatory of Music Professional Studies Diploma, The New School-Mannes School of Music I feel that music has always been more than just playing an instrument. If you're interested in a lesson or simply have a question about anything, I'm happy to help you with whatever you need!
