Do you struggle in your Spanish class? Are there grammar rules that you just don't get? Are you unsure of what the best method to learn how to speak and to understand is? Do you have trouble speaking with classmates or acquaintances?
If so, don't worry, I've been there too. I am a recent Rutgers graduate with a degree in Spanish. I studied abroad in Valencia, Spain and had to meet and make friends using only Spanish! At first it was gut-wrenching and nerve-racking, the idea of being forced to use only Spanish to communicate in my day to day life, but it ended up being the most fulfilling experiences of my life!
I started tutoring Spanish when I got back from my study abroad program. At the time I was studying for my B.A in Spanish at Rutgers University. I was involved with the Spanish club and I began by volunteering my time to help a friend in Spanish club.
After a few sessions, my friend began to give me a few dollars to compensate me for my time. I realized that I enjoyed the tutoring as much as I like learning the language and decided to take it on seriously. Through referrals from students I later tutored and staff I am close with, I began to work with students outside of our Spanish club. I put out a few ads on craigslist and began tutoring high schoolers and middle schoolers.
