Hello, I'm Jake, a voice and piano teacher originally hailing from Nashville, Tennessee. I recently moved to New York City after completing a master's degree in Musical Theatre Music Directing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I have 15+ years of experience as a professional vocalist, pianist, music director, arranger. and conductor. From demo and session work in Nashville, to singing in prestigious cathedrals in Ireland, to conducting orchestras for musical theatre in California, North Carolina, and the U.K., I am excited to bring my passion for music education to a new group of students. My teaching philosophy centers on engaging each student at their current level of development and isolating what specifically motivates them to pursue music - focusing on their strengths while developing them holistically as musicians and artists. In addition to technique and performance skills with their voice or the piano, I also incorporate musicianship-building units including aural skills (ear training), sight reading and sight singing, music theory, and music history into each lesson.
