What makes lessons with Jake fun is that he is very approachable and friendly. Jake has experience teaching kids in the classroom and also online- he is good at both! You can expect to have some fun while gaining a solid foundation in the basics and making progress towards your goals.

Jake was born near Seattle, WA, and was always a natural when it came to music. He taught himself how to drum at an early age, he started composing original music. Motivated by curiosity and passion, he also taught himself how to play guitar and ukulele in college, as well as the art of mixing and music production.

His interest in music took him to the quaint town of Bellingham, WA, where he combined the studies of music theory, recording, and creative writing, and he majored in Songwriting at Western Washington University.

Around this time, Jake began playing in bands and playing gigs locally. Local gigs led to regional tours, which in turn paved the way for national tours with the bands Vervex and The Co Founder. In February of 2019, Jake showed his talent on international stages when The Co Founder toured to Japan and Mexico.

Jake has produced 20+ records since his college days, either for his band Vervex or the bands he was involved in throughout the years. He is now living in New York City where he teaches music and English online to students globally.

He has gotten to where he is now because of his dedication and love for music, which he aims to share with his students.

Jake can play the drums, guitar, ukulele, bass, piano, and piano, and he produces all his own music under the name Vervex🐑
