Hey there! My teaching career spans 10 years, from kids as young as 5 to adults in their 50s. I'm best with beginner/intermediate students looking to build their confidence on their 'instruments' - whether guitar, voice, or songwriting. It's most important that I get a feel for what *you* want to achieve from your lessons, thus I'm a flexible teacher - performing out, casual playing, professional writing, writing in your backyard, singing at parties, or singing behind the steering wheel. It's my job to provide you with the tools to sharpen your own, and bring other skills level with the areas in which you already dominate. As is the case for many (including myself as a kid), picking up an instrument often comes as the result of wanting to emulate another artist (my influences include Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and The Matrix songwriting team); this often translates to interest in the ability to play/write as early as possible. With this in mind, I've successfully promised my students they would walk away from their lessons playing songs they liked. After all, this isn't meant to be a chore - we're in this because it's *fun!*

Hey there! My name is Jake, and I'm a lifetime musician. I began playing guitar and taking lessons 20 years ago (at age 8), and writing songs at 5!... my grandma recalls asking me to play "number 5" on the piano, and I'd do as I was asked, right from memory. Guitar, songwriting, and singing have long been my deepest passions, and having the opportunity to help others explore their own creative abilities has always made me feel whole. My style as an artist is especially in line with the Jason Mrazs, Colbie Cailats, and Ed Sheerans of the world, while as a writer I lean towards the styles of Scott Harris and Geoff Warburton (Shawn Mendes). Looking forward to working with creatives and musicians of all types!
